You may have seen on our Facebook page that we have been celebrating #ThrowbackThursday by posting a new photograph or video each week. Do send us any photographs along with your memories at Hartpury that you'd like us to feature in our new 'trip down memory lane' and don't forget to follow us on Facebook to see our weekly Throwbacks! Read more about Ross and Seans memories of Hartpury.

Ross Winchcombe, 1998-2000

Hi there, my name is Ross Winchcombe and I was at Hartpury from 1998-2000 studying a National Diploma in Golf. I had two fantastic years at Hartpury and made many friends I still talk to today, via the power of Facebook! One of my favourite memories was meeting Eddie the Eagle Edwards when the original Legends Bar opened upstairs – it was funny because I was the only person who actually knew who he was, so when I approached him and said, "you're Eddie the Eagle Edwards", he said, "thank god someone here knows me" and bought me a pint! In 2018 I took it upon myself with the help of Gill Cook and Hartpury to organise a reunion, which was very successful – in fact, so successful, we are already planning for next year.

It's great to still be in contact with so many people and share photos of our time at Hartpury, and I'm happy to be supporting Vicki with growing Hartpury alumni and driving the new platform, which is a great place for all ex-students to chat and share fond memories!

Sean Lynn, 2001-2005

I joined Hartpury back in 2001 to study Strength, Conditioning and Coaching and mainly to play rugby! The rugby days were the best days, Paddy making us do hill sprints by the lake in the morning and generally training hard, which helped us make the final of the BUSA cup (that still hurts!). There was always great banter between the boys, winding each other up where we could! One of the funniest times was when one of the boys got all excited and ready to take a girl out on a date...he was telling us all about how much he liked her, what he was going to wear and where he was going to take her. His car was parked outside New Vic, all clean and ready to go, but we just couldn't let him have a nice date! A couple of us decided to put his car on blocks and take the wheels off his car...he turned up with said girl as we were watching him out of the window. He started jumping up and down outside New Vic, looking around to see where we were before looking for his tyres and we just couldn't stop laughing! A lot of you will probably remember the pranks that followed but maybe I will save that story for another time! Anyway, over 20 years later and I'm still here! It's changed a lot over the years but still has the same old feel to the place! It was great to see lots of familiar faces on 29 October at the alumni reunion, and I'm looking forward to more events like this over the next couple of years.

We’d really love to hear more about your time at Hartpury – maybe you have fond memories of morning bacon butties at the refectory or the endless BBQs in the quad followed by a night out in Jack’s or Liquid. Not to mention the infamous rugby dinners and sports tours! Perhaps you were one of the first agriculture or equestrian students to study here at Hartpury or you were here the day the College llamas arrived? Please share any fond memories you might have – just drop us a line on alumni@hartpury.ac.uk or join one of our many online community groups to chat about old times.

Have your say
