We are looking for someone who shares our regenerative farming vision and is passionate about grass-based dairy production. You will work alongside us for a while before taking on management responsibility of the dairy operation. Over time this could become a joint venture, growing the enterprise and sharing the rewards. The role would suit someone who has proven dairy experience and wants to move into a management role Norton Court Farm is a 900-acre dairy, beef and arable holding in Gloucestershire. The 180 head dairy herd is AYR calved, grazed over summer and cubicle housed over winter. Supplying Arla as co-op members, on an Arla CARE contract. The farm also rears all the calves from the dairy as replacements or sold as beef and has 400 acres of arable cropping. The farm vision is to keep a profitable mixed farming enterprise that is improving biodiversity and soil health whilst positively engaging with the local community. To move towards a resilient, low-input farming system achieving a productive output of nutrient-dense foods. The job would entail running the dairy herd alongside the current farm team, taking over the day-to-day management of the herd, from the current farm owner. Some milking and feeding would be expected, as would grazing planning and record keeping. Ideally the candidate would be trained in AI and foot trimming but training in these and other areas will be offered. It will require the ability to work with others: the current farm team, farm owners, nutritionist and vets. Cow welfare is very important as is attention to detail and a high standard of work regarding cleanliness, tidiness for the Arla milk contract. Competitive salary subject to experience.
